Michelle Aube | ARNP, CRNA
Meet Michelle
Michelle graduated from her Diploma Nursing program in Ontario, Canada in 1988. Afterward, she worked as an RN in Canada for 4 years before accepting a staff nurse position at the Dartmouth Medical Center in New Hampshire. Her tenure at Dartmouth spanned 12 years, during which she worked in various departments including Med/Surg, Cardiac Telemetry, PACU, Cardiothoracic ICU, and Cardiac Intensive Care. In 2002, she completed her Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) at the University of New Hampshire and subsequently pursued graduate studies at The University of New England, earning her Master’s in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) in 2005.

Following her anesthesia program, she worked at medium to small critical access hospitals throughout New Hampshire until her relocation to Whidbey Island in 2017. The allure of Whidbey struck her as she crossed the Deception Pass bridge en route to her interview. She found her niche at WhidbeyHealth, where she could practice autonomously within the full scope of her training, aligning with her preference for small community hospitals.

Currently, she is affiliated with Anesthesia Associates North West (AANW), providing anesthesia services for WhidbeyHealth. Her role as Chief CRNA began in 2018, and she continues to excel in this position. Additionally, she has served as the Chair of Credentials for two terms (from 2019 to 2022), and she remains an active member of the Credentials Committee.

In her personal life, Michelle has been married to Michael for 34 years, and he serves as the Director of Surgical Services at WhidbeyHealth. Together, they have three grown children, two of whom have followed them to Washington, along with five grandchildren. She resides in Coupeville and enjoys outdoor activities, homebrewing, and gardening during her leisure time.

Her academic pursuits continue as she completes her Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia (DNAP) through Missouri State University. Her interests lie in improving access to care, promoting Nurse Anesthesia practice, and enhancing regional anesthesia for post-operative pain management.

Michelle’s connection to the Foundation stems from attending her first Gala at the Dancing Fish Winery. The Foundation’s generosity was evident when they acquired a new Glidescope for the Anesthesia Department—a fiberoptic camera that aids in managing difficult airway intubations. As a Foundation Member, she aims to contribute by discerning genuine needs from mere wants.
