Local Care Delivered
At 4 am one morning,
Jim woke up shivering uncontrollably. He couldn’t walk steadily, and his wife Joann knew he needed care—and fast. Like many on the island, they debated on where to go. Jim had past frustrations with WhidbeyHealth and wanted to seek care off-island. Joann pushed for Coupeville, and thankfully, she won the debate.
What they found at WhidbeyHealth surprised them both.
Instead of a long wait, Jim was triaged immediately. The nurses were attentive. A provider sat with him and clearly explained what was happening. He had an infection in his blood and needed urgent treatment. He didn’t hear scary words like “sepsis,” but he felt seen, informed, and safe.
